Chestnut Mushroom

Chestnut mushrooms, scientifically known as Pholiota adiposa, are edible fungi with a distinctive earthy and nutty flavor. They are also called blackening pholiota or cinnamon cap. These mushrooms grow in clusters on dead hardwood trees and stumps, typically during late summer and fall in North America and Europe.
